Actress Mrunal Thakur started her acting career with television and gracefully transcended to movies. The actress made her Hindi movie debut with the drama, Love Sonia, but rose to fame with biographical drama, Super 30, opposite Hrithik Roshan. While the actress managed to make a mark in both television and movies, she recently opened up on her share of incidents with nepotism in the industry.

In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Mrunal Thakur made shocking revelations on how she was snubbed for not being from a filmy background. The actress mentioned two incidents of being treated differently from star kids despite having the same potential if not less. “First, it happened to me at an Awards ceremony. I was getting the Critics Best Actress award for my film and after I went on stage, I was told, ‘Ma’am, that’s the exit!’ Whereas at the same ceremony, when a starkid went up, they literally were shoving the mic in her face,” she shared.

In another incident that she shared, media are to be blamed as they abandoned her during an interview to catch up on a star kid. “I was at this event giving interview bytes and suddenly, the entire media ran away because a star kid arrived. That poor girl couldn’t even handle her outfit properly and the media was just all over,” she said.

While the industry has been divided into two on the nepotism debate, many outsiders have claimed that they have to face the brunt for not having a filmy lineage. However, Mrunal Thakur doesn’t blame star kids for unequal opportunities. “After all, this is what the audience wants to see which is why the media is also giving it to them. I don’t blame the starkids for this at all,” she said as she blamed the audience.
