After the explosive success of Kabir Singh with Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani in the main leads, filmmakers have been working hard to recreate the magic with another remake. While the fans of Shahid Kapoor are still rejoicing the success of the star, Shahid earlier announced his next project which is also a Hindi remake but of a Telugu blockbuster.
Shahid Kapoor shared a picture of him practicing cricket in the nets to better his game and ace the role of a cricketer which was originally played by Nani in the Telugu film, Jersey. While everyone has been expecting another praiseworthy performance from the late bloomer, Shahid Kapoor’s fans have been eagerly waiting for the announcement of the female lead of the Hindi remake.
The makers finally listened to the plea of the fans and announced that the female lead of the Hindi remake is Mrunal Thakur. As per the report published in Mumbai Mirror, the actress said that she was elated to be a part of the project as the original film had a great impact on her. She also mentioned that she watched the movie twice to relive the emotional roller costar ride.
“So deep was the impact of the film that I couldn’t get it out of my heart the whole night, and immediately watched it again the next day. It felt like I had lived a full lifetime in two hours,” said the Super 30 actress. After establishing a career in television, Mrunal Thakur made her film debut with Marathi movie Vitti Dandu and appeared in Bollywood movies like Batla House and Super 30. While the actress has Ghost Stories and Toofan in the pipeline, she is all set to share screen space with the Kabir Singh actor.
Helmed by Gowtham Tinnanuri, Jersey tells the story of a struggling cricketer who is trying to make ends meet on both personal and professional fronts. The Hindi rights of the Telugu movie were acquired by Allu Aravind, Aman Gill and Dil Raju; and the movie is slated to release on 28 August 2020.
