Pirates Of The Caribbean has always been one of the most loved and successful movie franchises and special credit goes to Johnny Depp for making his character of Captain Jack Sparrow loved by one and all. However, after the allegations made against Johnny Depp by his ex-wife Amber Heard, Disney ousted him from the franchise and a spin-off with Margot Robbie in the lead was announced.

Johnny Depp’s exit from the fantasy adventure franchise made many fans mad and there were numerous online petitions to cancel the developments without Johnny Depp reprising his character. While the producers at Disney didn’t pay heed to the protests, Margot Robbie confirms that her female-fronted Pirates Of The Caribbean spin-off has hit the back burner.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Margot revealed that the keenly anticipated and protest-against spin-off is not happening anymore as the filmmakers have decided to drop the idea. “We had an idea and we were developing it for a while, ages ago, to have more of a female-led — not totally female-led, but just a different kind of story — which we thought would’ve been really cool. But I guess they don’t want to do it,” she told Vanity Fair.

On the other hand, there have always been speculations about bringing Johnny Depp back to the franchise and it was also reported that Disney allegedly apologized to the actor after he won the defamation trial against Amber Heard. However, there has been no concrete report about the same.
