One of India’s most acclaimed filmmakers, Mani Ratnam, and Shah Rukh Khan had joined hands for the romantic thriller movie, Dil Se, which completed 24 years last month. While the movie failed to gain the recognition that it deserved, it’s music album remains one of the most iconic creations ever. In a recent event, when Mani Ratnam was asked about his plans on reuniting with SRK for a movie project, the filmmaker said that he is eager to work with the actor.
Mani Ratnam is currently busy with the promotional activities of his upcoming epic period-drama film, Ponniyin Selvan: I, and in a recent media encounter, he opened up about working with Shah Rukh Khan again. When asked if there are any plans for the reunion, the filmmaker said that he recently met SRK at a function. “You should ask Shah Rukh. I should have a script ready for him, that’s when I can go to him. So, it’s all a function of a script,” he told Pinkvilla.
“We just met each other in a function, that’s all. Like I am telling you it’s driven by an idea of a script. Once you have an idea for which Shah Rukh Khan will be right, then I’ll go and ask him,” he further added.
Talking about Ponniyin Selvan: I, the Tamil-language epic period action features Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Vikram, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan and Sobhita Dhulipala. It tells the story of the early days of Arulmozhivarman, who later became the great Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola I.
On the other hand, Shah Rukh Khan is all prepared to break his years-long self-imposed sabbatical with Pathan. The movie reunites him with Deepika Padukone and also features John Abraham in a key role. Besides Pathan, SRK also has Jawan and Dunki releasing next year.
