S. Shankar is a well-known name in the South Indian film industry and rose to fame in pan-India after his visionary movie, Robot. While the filmmaker is in demand by several film producers, he finds himself under legal dispute yet again. Recently, the producer of his superhit Telugu-language drama, Anniyan, accused the director of stealing rights, now Lyca Productions have moved to court against him.
Shankar and production banner, Lyca Productions, have always had a great work rapport as the two have worked together for blockbuster movies like Robot. The producer-director duo announced their collaboration for another movie, Indian 2, a while ago but the movie faced one after another glitch ever since it went on the floors. The makers want to complete the project as soon as possible but now that Shankar announced a Hindi remake of his Telugu movie, Anniyan, Lyca Productions anticipates that the said project will further delay the production of Indian 2.
The makers of the Kamal Haasan starrer have now moved to the court to forbid Shankar from directing other movies until he completes Indian 2. The legal step taken by the production house is said to be creating far-reaching repercussions for directors who work on multiple projects simultaneously as other makers would be following the same route.
Talking about the movie, Indian 2 features Kamal Haasan in the lead with Bae Suzy, Kajal Aggarwal and Rakul Preet Singh in key roles. The Shankar directorial was earlier scheduled for a release in April 2021 but given the pandemic crisis, it has again pushed further.
