American actor Leonardo DiCaprio has always been vocal about his concerns related to climate change and environmental crisis. The actor, who is a well-known philanthropist, also formed his foundation to bring a change for a better Earth by the name of Earth Alliance. Post the devastating bushfire in Australia, the environmental organization has pledged to lend support to those affected.
The fire in Australia has become one of the biggest fires in history and already costed lives of about half a billion mammals, birds and reptiles along with 17 human lives. While the entire world is with Australia to combat the devastating bushfire, Leonardo DiCaprio’s foundation has pledged to donate USD 3 million to assist the firefighters and aid those affected by the fire. Earth Alliance will be working with local Australian organizations including Aussie Ark, Bush Heritage and Wires Wildlife Rescue to combat biodiversity loss.
It is not the first time that Leonardo DiCaprio has pledged to support the looses by wildfires. Last year, Earth Alliance had donated millions of dollars to combat the devastating fires in the Amazon rainforest. Along with Leonardo, many renowned celebrities stood up for the cause and contributed to the relief fund and urged others to lend their support.
