Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan has been one of the most loved and successful actresses in the country. The 40-year-old is currently busy with the production of her next, Laal Singh Chaddha, which reunites her with Aamir Khan. Meanwhile, she became the centre of a controversy when it was alleged that she demanded 12 crores to play the role of Sita in the upcoming mythological movie.
Kareena made a lot of noise when it was rumoured that the actress has hiked her price and asked for a sum of 12 crores to play Sita in the Alaukik Desai directorial, Sita: The Incarnation. Netizens trolled her heavily and accused her of hurting the religious sentiments of a community by demanding a huge fee. Many actresses including Taapsee Pannu, Pooja Hedge and Priyamani amongst others came out in support of Kareena Kapoor Khan by saying that it is a sign of ingrained sexism that only women are criticized for hiking their salaries.
After months of controversy, the topic was brought up in a recent interview with the news portal NDTV, but the actress refrained from opening up. When asked if she asked for 12 crores to play the Sita but it appeared to be fake news, Kareena responded with an unintelligible reply which can be heard as “Yeah, yeah…” followed by a head nod before the mic muted.
On talking about her other projects, Kareena revealed that she would be experimenting with a dark space movie straight after completing Laal Singh Chaddha. While she didn’t reveal much about the same, she affirmed that an official announcement will be made soon with its regard.
