Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer fantasy-drama, Brahmastra, is one of the most awaited movies under development for years. While the movie was earlier scheduled to release in December 2020, the unpredicted pandemic-induced crisis postponed the production and the project is still awaiting wrap. Meanwhile, OTT platforms are trying to make the makers release the movie directly on the streaming platform. However, producer Karan Johar doesn’t seem interested in the offer.
Brahmastra was announced in 2017 touting it to be the first trilogy in India. However, even after 3 years, the fans are still waiting for the movie to release which is still being shot. As per the sources, OTT giant Disney+ Hotstar has approached the production house, Fox Star Studios, with the offer to release the actioner over the streaming platform skipping the traditional theatrical release. However, co-producer Karan Johar has not entertained the offer as he feels the movie is made to enjoy on the big screen.
While the Fox Star Studios is now owned by The Walt Disney Company, the fate of second and third instalments of the movie remains uncertain. However, if the first part of the trilogy manages to garner good reviews, Karan Johar is expected to give the green signal with another production house in business.
Helmed by Ayan Mukerji, Brahmastra stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan as the primary cast with Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna playing prominent characters. The movie was announced as the first part of a three-film series and will be hitting the big screens in the last quarter of 2021.
