In a startling incident, Kaps Café, the restaurant owned by comedian and television star Kapil Sharma in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, was attacked for the third time in just four months. The café was reportedly fired upon early on Thursday, damaging the façade and windows.
Multiple shots were fired at the café, and a video from the scene showed several Surrey Police Service vehicles stationed around the area. This follows earlier attacks in July and August 2025. After the August 7 incident, authorities confirmed that while the property suffered damage, staff and the public were unharmed. Local officials also noted that repeated attacks have caused panic among employees, nearby residents, and business owners. Investigators reportedly recovered what appeared to be a Molotov cocktail at the latest crime scene.
The attack comes shortly after the Canadian government designated the Lawrence Bishnoi gang as a terrorist organisation on September 29, 2025, citing its ongoing involvement in organised violence. The gang has claimed responsibility for the latest attack via social media, issuing a warning that “bullets can go anywhere.”
Sources suggest that the repeated targeting of Kaps Café may be connected to Kapil Sharma’s long-time association with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, who has been a target of the Bishnoi gang for years. Other names linked to the case include Goldy Dhillon and Kulveer Singh.
The Surrey Police Service Frontline Investigative Support Team has taken over the investigation, which continues to examine the motives behind the repeated assaults.
These attacks have renewed concerns about gang-related extortion and threats against Bollywood personalities, echoing the underworld influence on the film industry during the 1980s and 1990s. With the investigation ongoing, questions remain about the safety of Indian entertainers living or operating overseas.
