After the phenomenal success of Kantara in 2022, Hombale Films is gearing up to take its ambitious prequel Kantara: Chapter 1 to an even wider global audience. This time, the makers are responding to international demand by releasing the film in both English and Spanish, in addition to several Indian languages.

The original Kantara, directed by and starring Rishab Shetty, became one of the most celebrated success stories in Indian cinema. Not only did it earn widespread critical acclaim and a National Award for Best Actor, but its deep connection with folklore, spirituality, and faith resonated far beyond Indian borders. The film struck a chord with audiences across Latin American countries such as Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, and Venezuela, where even non-diaspora viewers were drawn to its storytelling and cultural richness.

With Kantara: Chapter 1, the team aims to build on this momentum and deliver an even grander cinematic experience. Mounted on a large scale, the film includes an epic war sequence that took nearly two months to shoot, featuring more than 500 fighters and 3,000 participants. The crew brings back key talents from the original, including composer B. Ajaneesh Loknath, cinematographer Arvind Kashyap, and production designer Vinesh Banglan, ensuring the continuity of its unique creative vision.

The film is scheduled to release worldwide on October 2 in Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, Bengali, English, and Spanish. By expanding into new languages, Hombale Films hopes to bring this deeply rooted Indian story to audiences across different cultures and regions, cementing Kantara as a truly global phenomenon.
