Recently, the first look poster of Kangana Ranaut’s Thalaivi was unveiled and all were praises for Kangana Ranaut for her unbelievable transformation. While the actress worked hard to get into the skin of the real-life character of late political stalwart, J Jayalalithaa, the movie lands into legal trouble after the late politician’s niece raised concerned.
For the uninitiated, J Jayalalithaa’s niece Deepa moved to Madras High Court earlier this month to seek a halt on the biopic of her aunt. According to her, the makers of the movie didn’t take her consent for the biopic and she is concerned that a biopic on her late aunt can affect the privacy of her family. Deepa earlier said that the makers of the movie are only after monetary gains from it and have no legal rights to make the biopic on her aunt. Furthermore, she wants to see the entire script of Thalaivi before giving any permission.
After hearing her plea, the latest report suggests that the Madras High Court has given Deepa the permission to file a civil suit against the makers of Thalaivi and sue director AL Vijay for making a biopic on J Jayalalithaa without taking consent from her family. Not just the movie but Deepa has also demanded a halt on the web-series based on the same subject that has been directed by Gautham Menon.
Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut has been making headlines for her transformation as the actress even took hormone pills to gain weight around her belly and thigh to perfect her character as the late actor-turned-politician. Helmed by AL Vijay, Thalaivi is slated to release on 26 June 2020.
