The teaser of Zee Studios’ Kangana Ranaut starrer ‘Manikarnika’ has been released and its nothing short of grand and impressive. Written by the writers of ‘Baahubali’ and ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, the movie has been partly directed by Radha Krishna Jagarlamud (Krish) and patch work done by Kangana after the former  had to leave the project midway.

Based on the life of warrior princess Rani Lakshmi Bai also known as “Jhansi Ki Rani” and her revolt against Britishers in 1857, the then East India company, the teaser showcases Kangana in her most powerful fierce warrior Queen avtar.  Some of the shots may even remind the viewers of Ramya Krishnan’s ‘Sivagami’ from Baahulbali.

Ramya Krishnan as Sivagami (Baahubali) and Kangana Ranaut as Rani Jhansi (Manikarnika)

Along with Kangana’s fierce and magnificent performance in the teaser, it is  also Amitabh Bachchan’s narration in the teaser that makes you feel goosebumps and adds to the impact of the Queen’s fight for India’s Independence.

The movie has been delayed for long and has been in news mostly because of some controversy, especially for director and actors leaving the project midway. The recent one after director Krish was actor Sonu Sood who was playing the Maratha Commander Sadhashivrao Bhau  in the movie and following them is actor Smita Semwal who played Sood’s wife in it.

Starring along with Kangana in this ambitious project are Jishu Sengupta, Suresh Oberoi, Danny Denzongappa, Atul Kulkarni, television star Ankita Lokhande, Misti, Unnati Davera, Zeeshan Ayub, Rajeev Kacharo, Taheer Shabbir, Nihar Pandaya, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Manish Wadhwa.

Produced by Zee Studios in association with Kamal Jain, the movie is all set for a big Republic week release on 25th January 2019, clashing with  Hrithik Roshan and Mrunal Jha’s Mathematician biopic ‘Super 30’.
