Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao starrer thriller Mental Hai Kya has been making news recently owing to the controversial title of the movie. The movie was earlier postponed and the trailer launch event was cancelled as well and now the Central Board of Film Certification has raised an objection against the movie title.
The movie was awaiting a certificate from the CBFC and the currently titled as Mental Hai Kya has passed the censor board test with near to no cuts. However, the title of the movie was considered too harsh by the board and they have suggested a change in the same.
Earlier, the Indian Psychiatric Society found the title of the movie derogatory and demeaning to the mentally ill people. They wrote a letter to the Central Board of Film Certification seeking a change in the title. Although the makers of the movie denied such discrimination against mentally ill people and claimed that their movie encourages to embrace individuality, the CBFC ruled in favour of the opposing party.
The lead actress Kangana Ranaut said that the change in the title will be mild and she had no objection against the changes made. She also said that the censor board members were thrilled to watch the movie.
Directed by Prakash Kovelamudi, Mental Hai Kya will star Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao in the lead roles while Amyra Dastur, Jimmy Shergill and Satish Kaushik will be seen in pivotal characters. The movie is currently scheduled for a release on July 26.
