Starring Kangana Ranaut in the titular character, Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi released on the big screens on 25 January 2019 and despite much buzz, it failed to live up to the expectations. While Kangana’s performance was well-received by many, she failed to bring the audience to the ticket counter. Now after almost a year, the makers have decided to release the movie in Japan.

While the movie had its share of controversies, it managed to cross the 100 crore INR mark in just four weeks of its release and marked the biggest opener for the actress.
