Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut has been one of the most influential as well as controversial celebrities in the country and she has been sharing her straightforward opinions on everything under the sun for years. The actress was banned from the micro-blogging website, Twitter, for her repeated hatred-filled remarks and she is again under the scanner for her recent comment on Sikh protesters.

In an Instagram post, Kangana Ranaut used the name of a banned organization to refer to the protestors of the controversial farm laws. An FIR was lodged against her in Mumbai in the last week of November and the complainant alleged that her remark was intended to incite hatred against the religious community. The case was registered against her under sections 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) and Sections 505 (2), 504, 506 (II), and 509 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Kangana Ranaut was asked to appear before the Mumbai Police on Wednesday to record her statement, however, owing to her professional commitments, she failed to appear on the summoned day. Her lawyer had issued a statement that Kangana Ranaut was not in the city and alleged that the investigators were ‘not co-operating’ with them on a suitable date for the appearance.

On Thursday, Kangana reached the Khar police station in the presence of heavy media in the morning. As per the reports, she recorded her statement in relation to the complaint against her. Kangana had earlier cleared that it was not her intention to hurt the Sikh community. She had added that she had made her statements against a banned organisation and that she was within her fundamental right to do so.
