While the entire country is in anguish and despair after the brutal rape and murder of Dr. Priyanka Reddy in Hyderabad, India, many television and movie personalities shared their aggression and thoughts condemning the horrifying incident. Joining the bandwagon, Kabir Singh director, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, also condemned the heinous crime and demanded harsh punishment for the perpetrators. However, it didn’t go well with Twitterati.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who shot to fame after the phenomenal success of Vijay Deverakonda starrer Telugu film, Arjun Reddy, and its Hindi remake, Kabir Singh, starring Shahid Kapoor, took to his Twitter handle to express his anger as he wrote, “FEAR is the only factor which can change things radically in a society and FEAR should be the new rule. Brutal sentence will set an example. Now every girl in the country needs a firm guarantee. I request @warangalpolice to come into action.#RIPPriyankaReddy (sic)”

While the director has been earlier criticized for giving patriarchal, sexist, and downright misogynistic content in two of his movies, Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh, his tweet received severe backlash from the Twitter community. The tweet by Sandeep Reddy Vanga went viral for negative reasons as it got retweeted with the director being labelled as ‘hypocrite’ for promoting ‘rape culture’ with his ‘feudal and patriarchal’ movies.
?? Ladies and Gentlemen i present to you the great and fabled hypocrisy of our society in action. Keep making feudal and patriarchal movies like Arjun Reddy and also keep preaching along with Vijay devarakonda about rule of law and values.
