The trailer of ZEE5’s upcoming web-series Kaafir set in Kashmir is out today and it is getting a positive response from the viewers. The web-series stars actress Dia Mirza and television famed Mohit Raina in the lead roles. The series is directed by Sonam Nair and written by Bhavani Iyer, who wrote the screenplay for blockbuster spy thriller Raazi.
Set in the background of Kashmir, the trailer commences with a little girl singing Indian national anthem but was forced to sing that of Pakistan by her mother played by Dia Mirza. Dia is portraying the character of an alleged militant who was mentally and physically tortured behind the bars for many years. As suggested by the dialogues, she was falsely accused of terrorist activities and has given birth to her daughter inside the prison.
Mohit Raina, on the other hand, is playing a former lawyer and a struggling journalist who is sent at the Indo-Pak border to cover stories of human interest. However, when he learns about the alleged militant, he attempts to prove her innocent and set her free.
The screenplay and direction are intense and may give goosebumps to many, especially when the story is claimed to be based on actual events. Dia Mirza doesn’t fail to impress us with her performance and it can prove as her critical comeback. Mohit Raina, who was last seen in military action movie Uri: The Surgical Strike, is strong with his screen presence and may own the show.
Marking a digital debut for Dia Mirza and Mohit Raina, Kaafir starts streaming on Zee5 from July 15.
