Post the phenomenal success of Kabir Singh, the bar is high for the actor Shahid Kapoor and he is leaving no stones unturned to produce another masterpiece. While it was earlier announced that Shahid is locked for the official Hindi remake of the superhit Nani starrer, Jersey, the latest addition to the cast is his real-life father and renowned actor, Pankaj Kapur.
While Shahid Kapoor will be playing a middle-aged cricketer who struggles to make a mark in the Indian cricket team, Super 30 actress Mrunal Thakur was earlier roped in to play the love interest of Shahid Kapoor’s character as he struggles through his journey. While we couldn’t ask for more, the latest report is that Pankaj Kapur has joined the cast of the sports drama remake.
As per the report, the 65-year-old actor will be playing a mentor to his son’s character in the movie. The father-son duo was last seen in the rom-com Shaandaar and will be reuniting on the big screen after 5 years. Talking about the movie, Pankaj Kapur said, “Jersey is a strong story-driven by emotions. Working with Shahid has always been interesting. I admire his ability to portray emotions beautifully.”
Helmed by Tinnanauri, the Hindi remake of the Telugu language sports drama of the same name is expected to go on floors in Chandigarh by next week.
