The DC Extended Universe has been expanding with a number of project announcements from the production house and fans are eagerly waiting to see their favourite superheroes back in action. While DCEU has a number of upcoming highly anticipated projects in production, a sequel to the Aquaman has been in the news lately.

Featuring Jason Momoa in a standalone superhero movie, Aquaman was a successful venture at the box office and the makers had earlier announced a sequel which remained a topic of controversy. The sequel features Amber Heard alongside Jason in an important role of Mera, however, the fans had signed numerous petitions to get her replaced after WB fired Johnny Depp following losing a libel trial.

However, the makers continued to stay strong with its core cast and now the director, James Wan, has teased the title of the movie in an Instagram post. As revealed by James, the title of the upcoming Aquaman movie will be Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom. Sharing a photo of a production meeting that featured the new title of Aquaman 2, the director wrote, “The tide is rising.”

The director had earlier teased that the second edition in the Aquaman franchise will be different from the former and will share a more serious tone. The second one is a little bit more serious, a little bit more relevant to the world we’re living in today. That’s where it wants to go,” he added. The movie title also suggests that the sequel will be more focused on the Atlantis than the rest of the DCEU.
