SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus drama, RRR, has been one of the most anticipated movies and the fans have been eagerly waiting to watch the movies on the big screen. While the movie was scheduled to release on January 7, there were reports that the makers are planning to postpone the release given the rise in new Coronavirus cases. Confirming the same, the makers made an official announcement to push their release.

RRR has been one of the biggest pan India movies and it has been made on a gigantic scale with a mesmerising cast. While the hype for the movie has been all-time high after a great response from the audience on the released teasers and trailers, the movie has been getting postponed for a long time. The makers had finalised the first week of January 2022 to release their highly-demanded movie but with the recent Coronavirus scare, the movie has been postponed once again.

Earlier, filmmaker SS Rajamouli had asserted that RRR would be released on the announced release date and the team had no plans to deviate. However, on 1st January, the official Twitter handle of the movie announced an official statement on the release of the movie. The short note read, “Inspite of our relentless efforts, some situations are beyond our control. As many Indian states are closing theatres, we are left with no choice but to ask you to hold on to your excitement.”

“Keeping the best interests of all the involved parties in mind, we are forced to postpone our film. Our sincere thanks to all the fans and audience for their unconditional love. #RRRPostponed,” the caption of the post read. Given the steep rise in fresh COVID-19 cases across the country, the Delhi government had recently announced new curbs and shut down the theatres completely in the state. Many other states followed similar precautionary measured and announced restrictions to curb the spread of the deadly virus. While the Multiplex Association of India continues to urge the government for relaxation, the makers have decided to postpone their releases.

Helmed by SS Rajamouli, RRR features Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in key roles.
