Rumours have been swirling that Vicky Kaushal might be the next big name to enter Yash Raj Films’ blockbuster Spy Universe. A report from Mid-Day recently claimed that the actor was in talks with the production house after impressing with his action-packed role in Chhaava.
According to the report, discussions were underway to potentially add Kaushal to the ever-expanding franchise. “Vicky is interested in being part of this high-octane world. Talks have been on for a while, and the idea is to introduce a new storyline within the existing spy world,” a trade source was quoted as saying.
However, a recent update from Bollywood Hungama throws cold water on those claims. A reliable insider has clarified that no such project is currently in the works. “This news is completely untrue. YRF is currently focused on War 2. While the studio does have big plans for its Spy Universe, there are no immediate developments regarding a new film featuring Vicky Kaushal,” the source confirmed.
The YRF Spy Universe, created by producer Aditya Chopra, is already home to a string of box office giants, including Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, and Tiger 3. The next film officially on the slate is War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji and starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani. The film is set to hit theatres worldwide on August 14, 2025.
After War 2, YRF will shift its focus to Alpha — the first female-led film in the spy series. The movie will feature Alia Bhatt in the lead, alongside Sharvari Wagh and Anil Kapoor in key roles. Sources confirm that the studio is fully committed to these two upcoming titles, and there are no current plans for further additions.
So, while the idea of Vicky Kaushal joining the spyverse is certainly exciting, it remains pure speculation for now. With YRF keeping future plans tightly under wraps, fans will have to wait for official word before getting their hopes up.
