Bollywood stars are switching to a vegetarian lifestyle and it is nothing new. Earlier some celebrities in Bollywood utilised their lockdown days to concentrate on their eating and transform their dietary habits. Some of them ushered this particular change in their lives due to their love for animals, while others attempted to reduce their carbon footprint through this. And some of them are still talking about living a healthier life.
Various celebrities such as Bhumi Pednekar, Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza and Sanjay Dutt have entered the vegetarian club owing to such reasons. Other stars who are following the green diet include Kartik Aaryan, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Shahid Kapoor and Anushka Sharma. Manushi Chillar also promoted going vegetarian recently on Earth Day.
Actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra also turned vegetarian as a way of helping animals. She says that she stopped eating meat and meat-based products in order to reduce her carbon footprint and to help animals. She believes that raising animals for the consumptions of meat has deteriorated forests and contributes to greenhouse gas effects that ultimately lead to climate change.
The actress who is also a fitness freak, adds that one can be protected from various ailments by consuming a plant-based diet. She ensures that it will help protect one from heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and other problems and this change is possibly the best chance for animals, our health, the ecosystem and the health of the planet overall.
Sonu Sood, who was the ambassador of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India’s campaign ‘Chicks Love A Vegetarian’, also opened up about the right to life. He explained through the campaign that these little living beings feel as much as we do and don’t want to be killed for a fleeting moment of taste.
Ayesha Takia is also a vegan by choice and shows her love for animals through this choice of hers. She says that her love for animals will always be the main reason for staying vegan, but she doesn’t fail to mention the many benefits turning vegan has to the planet and our health. That definitely counts as a bonus to her.
The director of PR and Celebrity Relations, PETA India, Sachin Bangera, also urges that one most impactful thing people can do to help their planet and everyone else who lives on it is to go vegan. It is a simple change, he says, that has never been easier or more urgent.
