Ahead of his official debut, Ibrahim Ali Khan, son of Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, has already secured his next film project. He is set to make his debut in the thriller Sarzameen, set in Kashmir, alongside Kajol and Prithviraj Sukumaran, under the production banner of Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Now, in a recent development, the filmmaker has cast Khan in a romantic comedy opposite debutante Khushi Kapoor of The Archies fame.
This venture marks the second film for both Ibrahim and Khushi. According to a report by Pinkvilla, a source close to the project revealed that it’s planned as a direct-to-digital release, produced by Dharma Productions’ digital wing, Dharmatics. The film is scheduled to commence filming next year and will be directed by Shauna Gautam. Talks are underway with a leading OTT platform for streaming rights.
Described as a quintessential romantic comedy, the project aligns with the storytelling palette synonymous with Hindi Cinema. However, Karan Johar and his team believe the narrative’s tone and style are better suited for the OTT platform rather than a traditional theatrical release. Therefore, it’s strategically designed and will be executed as an OTT original.
Shauna Gautam, the director of the film, has previously collaborated with Karan Johar as an Associate Director on Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, where Ibrahim Ali Khan served as an Assistant Director. Shauna also worked with Rajkumar Hirani as an AD on Sanju. The project is currently in the pre-production stage, with casting underway for the ensemble cast.
