Indian music producer, composer, rapper, pop singer, lyricist and film actor, Yo Yo Honey Singh, found himself in the middle of a serious controversy when his wife Shalini Talwar accused him of domestic and sexual violence. On 3 August, fans of the 38-year-old rapper were shocked when a complaint against him was lodged in Delhi.
As per the reports, Shalini Talwar accused Honey Singh of cheating on her with multiple women and “mercilessly beat her”. Now, according to the leading news portal, ZeeNews India, Shalini has sought Rs 10 crore compensation under the ‘Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act’. In her complaint, Shalini has alleged that she felt like a “farm animal being treated cruelly” in her marriage with Honey Singh.
The domestic violence, sexual violence and mental harassment case was registered before Tania Singh Cheif Metropolitan Magistrate of the Tis Hazari Court in New Delhi. Shalini has also issued notice to Honey Singh to not dispose off any joint property or jewellery. “Due to mental harassment and cruelty imposed upon her over a period of time, she also suffered from symptoms of depression and sought medical help,” stated advocates representing Shalini Talwar.
