British actor Henry Cavill first appeared as the DC Comic based superhero, Superman, in the Zack Snyder directorial Man Of Steel followed by Batman V Superman and Justice League. While many were disappointed with the rumours of Henry Cavill being replaced by a younger actor to play the Superman post the Matt Reeves’s standalone Batman movie with Robert Pattinson playing the caped crusader, the latest development is in favour of the Cavill fans.
Recently filmmaker Zack Snyder made the much-speculated announcement of the Snyder Cut of Justice League which was requested by the fans for years. Soon after the announcement of the long-rumoured extended version of the 2017-release superhero movie, the reports suggest that Henry Cavill has been approached to reprise his character of Superman in the upcoming DC Universe movie. However, the reports confirmed that Cavill would not be shooting for the Director’s Cut of Justice League but for an upcoming movie of the franchise.
The reports further add that Henry Cavill will only be seen playing a cameo in the upcoming project of DC Universe as of now and he is in negotiations for the role. Last year, Cavill said that he had not given up on the role and the cape is still in his closet. “I’m not just going to sit quietly in the dark as all this stuff is going on. There’s a lot I have to give for Superman yet. A lot of storytelling to do. A lot of real, true depths to the honesty of the character I want to get into,” the actor further added about his portrayal of the superhero.
Meanwhile, Henry Cavill was last seen sharing screen space with Tom Cruise in the sixth instalment of the action franchise, Mission: Impossible. Cavill also portrayed the role of Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s fantasy drama, The Witcher.
