Renowned lyricist Javed Akhtar is again under the light for his recent remark and an FIR has been filed against him on comparison between Taliban and Hindu Extremists. The lyricist has allegedly made a remark against Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and a complaint against him was registered in Mulund police station on Monday.
In a recent interview, the 76-year-old lyricist drew parallels between the Taliban and Hindu extremists. The complainant claimed that Akhtar committed a criminal offence with his remarks under IPC Sections 499 (defamation) and 500 (punishment for defamation). The lawyer, Santosh Dubey, further claims that he had sent a notice to Javed Akhtar to issue an apology, however, failing to do so, the lawyer filed the complaint.
Javed Akhtar had compared Islamist militant outfit Taliban with RSS during a television interview and had said, “Just like the Taliban want an Islamic State, there are those who want a Hindu Rashtra. These people are of the same mindset — be it Muslim, Christian, Jews or Hindus.” He further added, “Of course, the Taliban is barbaric, and their actions are reprehensible, but those supporting the RSS, VHP and Bajrang Dal are all the same.”
The Thane court has issued a notice to Javed Akhtar on Rs 1 defamation suit for the remark comparing the militant outfit with RSS.
