Renowned Bollywood filmmaker and actor, Mahesh Manjrekar, recently received multiple extortion calls for INR 35 crore and a complaint was made to the Mumbai police. The Mumbai police with the Anti-Extortion Cell was swift to arrest the accused which has been sent to police custody till September 2 by the court.
As per the sources, a person identified as Milind B. Tulsankar called Mahesh Manjrekar alleging that he is an associate of gangster Abu Salem and demanded INR 35 crore from the filmmaker. Despite the threats of dire consequences if instructions not followed, Manjrekar was aware enough to report him to the Mumbai Police. The accused, upon investigation, turned out to be a tea seller and was arrested in Ratnagiri with the help of Anti-Extortion Cell.
Accused Milind was produced before the court by the Mumbai Police and has been sent to police custody, Meanwhile, the filmmaker has applauded the swift action by the Mumbai Police and Anti-Extortion Cell via his Twitter handle and wrote, “A Big Thank You to the @CPMumbaiPolice & The Anti-extortion cell for the swift action in getting the culprit in custody. Bravo @MumbaiPolice.”
