Social media has been termed as a bad influence for many in the current age but at the same time, it has proven to be a great help to become a voice for good samaritans across the country and the world. In one such incident, filmmaker and former journalist, Rahul Mittra, helped the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram to douse off a huge fire.
On Wednesday, Rahul Mittra spotted a fire near NH8 on his way to Gurugram and he requested the concerned departments of the city to take immediate action through the micro-blogging website, Twitter. Sharing a 45-second-long clip of the fire from a distance, the filmmaker tweeted, “Just spotted huge fire next to NH8 on way to Gurgaon! Hope there are no casualties. Please take action @dcptrafficggm @DC_Gurugram (sic).”

The filmmaker tagged the local authorities in his video tweet and the departments known for their active social media presence were prompt in taking action. Soon the social media handle of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram thanked the filmmaker for his good call and informed that control has been gained on the fire. “Fire has been extinguished. Our team is also monitoring the respective area. Thank you!” MCG re-tweeted to the original post.
