Starring Akshay Kumar in the lead, horror-comedy Laxmmi Bomb was highly anticipated and weeks ago the trailer of the movie dropped online. While the comic trailer of the movie was loved by the fans but soon the movie fell into a series of controversies and netizens asked to boycott the movie. Following the backlash and legal notice, the makers changed the title of the movie.
As per reports, the makers of the horror-comedy received a legal notice on behalf of Shri Rajput Karni Sena. The notice demanded a change in the title of the movie and considered the original title to be derogatory to Goddess Laxmi and thereby hurting sentiments of the Hindu community. The notice also claimed that the name sends out a wrong message to the society at large towards the “ideology, customs, gods and goddesses of Hindu religion”.
On Thursday, the makers of the movie went for its censor certificate and had a discussion with CBFC post the screening. Respecting the sentiments of the viewers, the producers of the movie considered the requested change in the title of the movie and changed it to Laxmii. All promotional activities will now be carried out emphasising the new title of the movie.
Helmed by Raghava Lawrence, Laxmii stars Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani as the prominent characters. The horror-comedy is an official remake of the 2011 Tamil film Kanchana and is set to premiere on 9 November on Disney+ Hotstar VIP.
