Actor Producer Dwayne Johnson announces being part of his dream project Warner Bros and New Line’s ‘The King’ based on the life of the Hawaiian king Kamehameha. Directed by none other than Academy award winner, the director of ‘Forrest Gump’, Robert Zemeckis.
The movie which is to commence its shoot in the year 2020 is written by ‘Braveheart’ writer Randall Wallace who wrote the epic war film released back in 1995.
‘The King’ is an ambitious project that is being bankrolled by Dwayne’s Seven Bucks Productions company and Zemeckis’s FlynnPictureCo.
Johnson who is one of the most loved, admired and respected personalities in Hollywood, is set to play the role of the Hawaiian King, the Great Kamehameha in the movie.
Kamehameha was the first king to bring together the warring Hawaiian islands after a series of wars in the late 17th century. He ensured that the islands stayed united even after he is gone.
Talking about the project the Polynesian actor in his social media posts said, “From the day I began my Hollywood career in 2001, my dream was to bring this legacy to life. In Polynesian culture, we have a belief, that something isn’t done when its ready, it’s done when it’s right. The Time is right.”
