Actor Producer Dwayne Johnson announces being part of his dream project Warner Bros and New Line’s ‘The King’ based on the life of the Hawaiian king Kamehameha.  Directed by none other than Academy award winner, the director of ‘Forrest Gump’, Robert Zemeckis.

The movie which is to  commence its shoot in the year 2020 is written by ‘Braveheart’ writer Randall Wallace who wrote the epic war film released back in 1995.

‘The King’ is an ambitious project that is being bankrolled by  Dwayne’s Seven Bucks Productions company and Zemeckis’s FlynnPictureCo.

Johnson who is one of the most loved, admired and respected personalities in Hollywood, is set to play the role of the Hawaiian King, the Great Kamehameha in the movie.

Kamehameha was the first king to bring together the warring Hawaiian islands after a series of wars in the late 17th century. He ensured that the islands stayed united even after he is gone.

Talking about the project  the Polynesian actor in his social media posts said, “From the day I began my Hollywood career in 2001, my dream was to bring this legacy to life. In Polynesian culture, we have a belief, that something isn’t done when its ready, it’s done when it’s right. The Time is right.”

KA LA HIKI OLA. Dawning of a new day with hope and promise. Humbled & grateful to begin this once in a lifetime journey. KING KAMEHAMEHA – the legendary King was the first to unite the warring Hawaiian islands — fulfilling the prophecy that surrounded his fabled life since birth and creating the powerful & spiritual 50th state as we know it today. Academy Award winning director, Robert Zemeckis (FORREST GUMP) will direct. Academy Award nominated writer, Randall Wallace (BRAVEHEART) will write. From the day I began my Hollywood career (2001), my dream was to bring this legacy to life. In Polynesian culture we have a belief, that something isn’t done when it’s ready… it’s done when it’s right. The time is right. The one who walks alone. #Culture #History #Mana #TheKing #KAMEHAMEHA
