The recent instalment to the highly popular science-fiction web series, Stranger Things, lived up to the expectations of the fans and has shattered many records with its hype. Now, the director-duo, Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, has formed a new production house and announced a number of exciting projects in the pipeline.

Announcing their new company named Upside Down Pictures, Duffer brothers announced a number of film and television projects as part of their overall deal with Netflix. According to The Duffer Brothers, Upside Down Pictures will “aim to create the kind of stories that inspired the Duffers growing up – stories that take place at that beautiful crossroads where the ordinary meets the extraordinary, where big spectacle co-exists with intimate character work, where heart wins out over cynicism.”

One of the many projects that the production house will begin working on is the live-action adaptation of the popular Japanese manga and anime series, Death Note. The manga and anime series has long been one of the widely loved franchises and the live-action adaptation. The adaptation will be a television series which is part of the growing slate of projects in active development between the Duffer brothers and Netflix.

The production house also announced a live-action Stranger Things spin-off series based on an original idea by The Duffer Brothers, with Upside Down and 21 Laps producing. Along with the spin-off series, Upside Down Pictures will also co-produce a new stage play set within the world and mythology of Stranger Things.
