The ongoing compensation dispute between the makers of Don 3 and actor Ranveer Singh has taken a formal turn, with the Producers Guild of India advising both parties to seek a legal resolution. The recommendation comes after attempts at mediation reportedly failed to bridge the gap between the actor and the production team.
According to reports, the Guild clarified that its role in such matters is limited and that it cannot enforce a settlement when both sides remain firm in their positions. With no agreement reached through informal discussions, the matter is now expected to move into the hands of legal representatives.
The conflict began after Ranveer Singh exited Don 3, which is being produced by Excel Entertainment and directed by Farhan Akhtar. It is understood that the production house has sought Rs 40 crore in compensation, claiming financial losses during the pre-production and development stages of the film. Ranveer, however, is believed to have contested the claim and the extent of liability attributed to him.
Sources indicate that discussions between the actor and the producers continued until shortly before the release of Dhurandhar. At one point, Ranveer is said to have offered a partial settlement as a goodwill gesture. However, that offer was reportedly withdrawn when the compensation demand was considered excessive. Those familiar with the matter suggest that the actor does not believe he is contractually responsible for the alleged losses.
The disagreement was also reportedly discussed at a recent meeting in Mumbai attended by several leading producers and studio heads. Both sides are said to have presented documentation to support their respective positions.
With the Guild stepping aside and recommending legal recourse, the future of Don 3 and the financial dispute surrounding it remains uncertain. Any further clarity is now likely to emerge only after formal legal proceedings begin.
