After years of delays and anticipation, Don 3 is finally ready to shift into gear. Directed by Farhan Akhtar, the third instalment in the iconic franchise will officially begin filming in January 2026, with plans to hit the big screen by December 2026.
According to sources close to the project, the delays were due to a mix of unforeseen circumstances and strategic decisions. “Yes, there’s been a delay, but it was necessary,” a source revealed to veteran journalist Subhash K Jha. “Ranveer Singh, who’s stepping into the lead role after Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic portrayal, faced significant online backlash. Both Ranveer and Farhan chose to step back temporarily to let things settle down.”
Ranveer is reportedly undergoing intense martial arts and physical training to embody the new-age Don, ensuring he brings something fresh and formidable to the role.
The casting of Kiara Advani as the female lead also hit a pause when the actress became pregnant. Meanwhile, Farhan Akhtar was immersed in shooting 120 Bahadur, a war film in which he stars as Major Shaitan Singh. That film is now scheduled to release on November 21, 2025, allowing Don 3 to move forward without overlaps.
But the biggest twist? A familiar face may be returning. “There’s buzz that Priyanka Chopra could make a comeback to the Don universe,” the source hinted. While nothing is confirmed, fans are already buzzing with excitement at the prospect of seeing her reprise her role as Roma.
