The Don franchise featuring Shah Rukh Khan as the titular character has a cult following and the fans have been waiting for a new instalment for over a decade. The second instalment helmed by Farhan Akhtar debuted in 2011 and the makers have time and again teased a possibility for Don 3. While the reports always ended with the project hitting the backburner, the latest development is a treat to the fans.
In an exclusive report by Pinkvilla, a source close to the development of the project reveals that filmmaker Farhan Akhtar has finally started working on the script for Don 3. As per the source, the team has been trying to crack and develop an idea worthy of a third instalment to the franchise for the longest and they finally found an interesting idea for the script. Farhan has reportedly started working on the script before narrating it to Shah Rukh Khan.
If the reports are to be believed, Farhan Akhtar has also discussed the idea with Javed Akhtar, who created the original Don featuring megastar Amitabh Bachchan, and they found the idea too exciting to let go. However, the fate of the project still depends on the final script and how it aligns with the expectations of the rest of the cast.
On the other hand, Shah Rukh Khan will be breaking his sabbatical after years with Siddharth Anand’s directorial Pathan. SRK will also be playing a key cameo in Karan Johar’s magnum opus Brahmastra Part One: Shiva featuring Ranbir Kapoor as the protagonist. Meanwhile, he has also begun working on his next, Jawan, helmed by Atlee Kumar.
