The highly anticipated war drama Border 2 is currently being filmed at the Babina cantonment in Jhansi, with Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty in key roles. Now, it has been confirmed that actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh will also be part of the film, portraying the late Indian Air Force officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon—the only IAF officer to receive the Param Vir Chakra posthumously.
According to reports, Dosanjh is set to join the team in April. Speaking on a recent podcast, he revealed that he will be stepping into the role of Sekhon, who bravely defended the Srinagar air base against six Pakistan Air Force F-86 jets during the 1971 India-Pakistan war.
A report by Mid-Day cited a source stating, “Diljit is currently filming Sardaarji 3 in Scotland. He will begin preparations for Border 2 by the end of March. Director Anurag Singh has planned a 20-day start-to-finish schedule for him.”
The source also shed light on the film’s locations, mentioning that key dialogue scenes will be shot at the Bombay Flying Club in Juhu, while large-scale sequences will be filmed in Kashmir. To ensure authenticity, the production will use replicas of Folland Gnat fighter aircraft, and the Srinagar air base will be recreated.
While details about other roles remain under wraps, it has been confirmed that Sunny Deol will reprise his iconic role as Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri from the 1997 classic Border. With Anurag Singh directing, Border 2 aims to honour the valour and sacrifices of the Indian Armed Forces during the 1971 war.
