The unstoppable run of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle at the US box office shows no signs of slowing down. Directed by Haruo Sotozaki, the film has officially become the highest-grossing entry in the beloved anime franchise. Even more impressively, it has already earned more than 120 per cent higher than the previous record-holder, Mugen Train.
On its 13th day in theatres, the film brought in another $1.5 million. While this was a 32 per cent dip from the $2.2 million it earned the day before, it still marked the biggest discounted second Wednesday for an anime release in US history. It even managed to top the performance of The Boy and the Heron, which collected $1.1 million on its second Wednesday.
With this boost, Infinity Castle now stands at $110 million in the US, and industry estimates suggest it could easily push past $130 million before wrapping up its run. For comparison, Mugen Train ended its entire US journey in 2021 with $49.9 million, a milestone that Infinity Castle surpassed during its very first weekend.
The film, also referred to as Akaza’s Return, is not just the biggest Demon Slayer title in the US but is also setting new benchmarks for anime films overall. As the first instalment of a planned trilogy, it is already building enormous anticipation for the upcoming sequels.
Globally, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle has broken through to become the highest-grossing anime movie of all time. It is currently competing with major 2025 blockbusters like Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, F1, and Superman for a place in the worldwide top 10.
