Triptii Dimri joins Prabhas in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s high-octane drama Spirit

The buzz around Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s much-anticipated film Spirit just got louder, as Triptii Dimri has officially been announced...

Deepika Padukone’s film career is once again under the spotlight, and this time it’s not just about her next big role, but her work-life balance. Following her exit from Spirit, reports now suggest that the actress may also be dropped from the highly anticipated sequel Kalki 2.

As per a report from Bollywood.mobi, Deepika’s request for a reduced work schedule post-motherhood is reportedly causing challenges for the Kalki 2 production team. Sources claim that the filmmakers are now re-evaluating her involvement in the project, with options ranging from reducing her screen time to potentially removing her altogether. However, no official confirmation has been made.

This buzz comes shortly after Deepika was ousted from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit, reportedly over similar reasons. Multiple outlets reported that the actress requested an 8-hour workday, a hefty paycheck, and even a share in the film’s profits. These terms reportedly didn’t sit well with the director, who expressed his frustration on social media without naming names. Soon after, Triptii Dimri was announced as the new female lead in Spirit.

As for Kalki 2, the sequel to the 2024 blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD, the production is already grappling with delays. Lead actor Prabhas is currently occupied with his other films The Raja Saab and Fauji, pushing the filming schedule back even further.

Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin and made on a jaw-dropping ₹600 crore budget, was a massive hit when it released in June 2024. It starred a powerhouse ensemble including Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan.

Now a new mom to baby Dua, Deepika is reportedly prioritising her family and is seeking more flexible work hours as she eases back into acting. While this move has sparked debate in the industry, many see it as a bold step toward creating a more accommodating work culture for working mothers in cinema.

Fans are eagerly awaiting an official update on whether Deepika will remain part of Kalki 2. In the meantime, her effort to balance personal and professional life is being seen by many as both necessary and inspiring.
