Deepika Padukone is one of the leading ladies of the Bollywood industry and has been making news lately for her contribution to the Indian film industry. While the actress will soon be seen portraying the character of an acid attack survivor in the biopic drama Chaapaak, she earlier revealed signing a dark romantic thriller helmed by Shakun Batra. However, the latest report suggests that she will also be co-producing the movie.
Renowned filmmaker Karan Johar, who will be bankrolling the untitled project, recently announced that his upcoming project that has to be directed by Shakun Batra will have both men and women paid fairly. While Deepika Padukone has always been vocal and supportive of equal wages for everyone irrespective of the gender, the latest report suggests that Shakun Batra directorial will have the actress name credited as the co-producer of the movie.
A source close to the development of the project informed that Deepika Padukone will be playing the protagonist in the dark thriller that also has Gully Boy fame Siddharth Chaturvedi in the male lead. While the actress loved the script and gave her nod to the project in the first go, she also had a conversation with the producer, Karan Johar, and they both agreed to have her on board as a co-producer as well.
Meanwhile, the actress will be seen alongside her husband, Ranveer Singh, in the Kabir Khan directorial sports drama ’83 and will be portraying the real-life character of acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal, in Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak.
