Rajinikanth has been synonymous to the South superstar for the longest time and his fans know no boundaries. Recently, Rajinikanth and Nayanthara starrer cop-drama, Darbar, hit the big screens and the first-day box office collection is nothing but impressive. Despite the movie was leaked in high definition over the piracy websites, the business was apparently not harmed by the same as Darbar had a great start in not only India but international markets as well.
Renowned trade analyst Ramesh Bala took to his social media handle to announce the first-day box office reports of Darbar in the international markets and the collection is massive. The mystery-drama managed to collect AUD 160,000 on the first day of its release in Australia while it minted USD 615,000 in the USA in just 160 locations. In New Zealand, the cop-drama had a record earning of NZD 16,500 on the first day of its release.
The movie has been doing a great business in the Indian box office as well and going on par with one of the biggest releases of Rajinikanth in his career. The movie has received great reviews from the audience and critics alike and therefore, we can expect the earnings going high over the weekends.
Talking about the movie, Darbar is a cop-drama with Rajinikanth as the protagonist who tries to solve murder mysteries relating to each other. Helmed by renowned filmmaker A R Murugadoss, the movie also stars Nayanthara, Nivetha Thomas, Sunil Shetty, Prateik Babbar, and Ravi Kishan in prominent characters.
