American actor Chris Evans is widely loved across the world for his portrayal of the comic book-based superhero character, Captain America, in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. While the actor retired from the franchise with the epic Avengers: Endgame, fans have been expecting his return as the iconic character. With the development of a fourth instalment in the Captain America franchise, there were rumours of his return but Chris has cleared the air once and for all.

After it was reported that MCU is preparing for a fourth Captain America live-action movie with Anthony Mackie, it was widely reported that Chris Evans might make a comeback as the original superhero. However, the actor took to his social media handle to shut down the rumour mills and confirm that he is not returning to MCU.

Responding to the rumours of his return as Captain America, Evans took to Twitter to shed the light and wrote, “Sam Wilson is Captain America”. Sam Wilson played by Anthony Mackie was passed the mantle of the American superhero in Avengers: Endgame and he wore the costume in Marvel’s television series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

As per the reports, Nigerian-American filmmaker Julius Onah will be directing the next instalment of the franchise.
