Bollywood actors and movies are at the receiving end of the online cancel culture and almost every big banner Bollywood movie is facing boycott calls from the netizens for one reason or another. Bollywood’s recent releases, Laal Singh Chaddha, Shamshera and Raksha Bandhan, have been victims of the cancel culture and many actors have questioned the trend. Meanwhile, Chiyaan Vikram also opened up on the trend.

Vikram is currently preparing the release of his Tamil-language crime thriller, Cobra, and during one of the promotional events, he was asked for an opinion on the boycott trend in Bollywood. While he refused to answer the question directly, he denied acknowledging the boycott trend as valid. “I don’t know what language you are speaking. What do you mean by that (boycott)? I know what’s a boy. I very well know what’s a girl. I know very, very well, what’s a cot. But, I don’t know what’s a boycott,” he said.

Apart from Vikram, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Vijay Varma, Vijay Deverakonda, and Aamir Khan, among others too reacted to the trend.

On the work front, Vikram will next be seen in the Ajay Gnanamuthu directorial Cobra which essays the story of a genius mathematician on a killing spree. He will also be seen in the keenly anticipated epic Ponniyan Selvan helmed by Mani Ratnam.
