And we are all up for it! RSVP dropped in the trailer of the upcoming most anticipated military action drama ‘URI: The Surgical Strike’ starring Vicky Kaushal in the lead on  Wednesday morning.

What is a Bollywood made military movie without the chest thumping patriotic effect? Its been long that we saw a genuinely well made one anyway. While some make us cringe, there are many that make us totally feel it from within.

This would be Vicky’s second film post Meghana Gulzar’s ‘Raazi’ where he will be playing an Army officer, however, this time as an Officer of the Indian Army leading the surgical strike team.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, based on real events, ‘URI’ chronicles around the deadly attack imposed on Indian soldiers in Uri Base Camp in Kashmir by Pakistani terrorists across the border in 2016 which killed 19 Indian soldiers and left many others severely injured. On 29th September 2016, eleven days after the attack by the terrorists, Indian Army special forces launched Surgical strikes across terrorist launch pads in Line of Control who were planning to attack inside Jammu and Kashmir and several other cities in India.

Vicky Kaushal in a still from URI trailer

The trailer gives a powerful glimpse of what was all at stake during that time, Vicky who plays Vihaan Singh Shergill decides to avenge the merciless killing of his fellow soldiers in the Uri attack and bring about justice to their families. Supporting him in this mission are Yami Gautam who plays an Interrogating officer, Kirti Kulhari who plays an Air force pilot and Paresh Rawal who is seen suggesting the Surgical strikes to higher authorities.

The film will cover the period starting from the day of the attack by the militants to the day of Surgical attacks as a retaliation by the Indian Army. It would also mark as a tribute to the men in uniform who volunteer to protect their country and its people, sacrificing their own chance to have a leisure life.

‘URI’ will be hitting the theatres on 11th January 2019.
