Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff starrer multicrore actioner War is wreaking havoc at the box office and shattered numerous records already with mostly positive reviews. While the movie is still doing great business and crossed 400 crore mark globally, Saif Ali Khan starrer Laal Kaptaan might give a tough competition to War.
Post the success of Netflix web series Sacred Games and Sacred Games 2, Saif Ali Khan has earned a great fan following and everyone is expecting a great performance from him in the upcoming action thriller. Along with Saif Ali Khan as the protagonist, Laal Kaptaan also stars Manav Vij, Zoya Hussain, Deepak Dobriyal, and Simone Singh in prominent characters.
The teasers and trailer of the movie have received great response and audiences were all praises for Saif Ali Khan for the sneak peek of his performance. However, the movie has a specific niche audience and cannot be considered a commercial entertainer. The promotions for the movie are also limited and most of the people who loved the first look are not aware of the release date as there is hardly any buzz about the movie.
Meanwhile, Vikram Bhatt’s horror movie Ghost starring Sanaya Irani and Angelina Jolie starrer Maleficent: Mistress of Evil are expected to give great competition to Laal Kaptaan since Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has given her voice for the Hindi version of the Disney flick. On the other hand, the craze for War isn’t settling down and it might outdo all three of the movies just like Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar’s The Sky Is Pink.
Considering all the factors, Laal Kaptaan is expected to open anywhere between 1-1.5 crore INR on Friday and might pick up the pace by the weekend if it manages to garner positive reviews and strong word of mouth.
