Ground Zero, directed by Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar, has hit theatres with glowing reviews from audiences who are calling it a “must-watch.” However, despite the critical praise, the film has struggled to pull in large crowds, resulting in a disappointing opening at the box office.
On its first day, Ground Zero collected only ₹1.20 crores, making it one of the lowest Bollywood openings of 2025. Although it fared slightly better than Superboys Of Malegaon (₹50 lakhs) and Crazxy (₹1.10 crores), it still fell short when compared to films like Loveyapa and Azaad.
Here’s a quick look at the 5 lowest Bollywood openings of 2025:
- Superboys Of Malegaon – ₹50 lakhs
- Crazxy – ₹1.10 crores
- Ground Zero – ₹1.20 crores
- Loveyapa – ₹1.25 crores
- Azaad – ₹1.50 crores
For Emraan Hashmi, the numbers are underwhelming. His last solo release, Why Cheat India (2019), managed a ₹1.70 crore opening, a figure that Ground Zero couldn’t match. Post-COVID, Emraan has seen mixed box office results, with Tiger 3 (₹44.50 crores) standing far above the rest, while Selfiee (₹2.55 crores) and Chehre (₹50 lakhs) performed modestly.
Produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under Excel Entertainment, Ground Zero stars Sai Tamhankar and Zoya Hussain alongside Emraan. The film tells the gripping story of BSF officer Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey, who led the operation that resulted in the elimination of notorious terrorist Ghazi Baba.
Released on April 25, 2025, Ground Zero might find a second wind if word-of-mouth picks up. But for now, its box office journey has started on a shaky note.
