Allu Arjun’s 2009 romantic action film Arya 2 made a solid return to theatres with its re-release on April 5, pulling in an impressive response at the box office. The film raked in ₹1.1–1.2 crore gross through advance bookings in India, marking the best opening day for any Allu Arjun re-release to date.
Following the Pushpa 2 craze—which became the highest-grossing film in Indian cinema history, collecting over ₹1265 crore—fans have been flocking to relive Arjun’s earlier performances, with Arya 2 leading the charge.
On its re-release opening day, Arya 2 garnered a worldwide gross of ₹3.74 crore. While it didn’t crack the top 5 Telugu re-release openings (with Business Man 4K holding the fifth spot at ₹5.85 crore), Arya 2 still achieved a notable feat: it outperformed the entire re-run collection of Mahesh Babu’s Okkadu, which had grossed ₹2.54 crore during its lifetime re-release.
In fact, Arya 2’s opening day has already outpaced the total re-release earnings of several notable Telugu films, including:
- Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi: ₹3.52 crore
- Surya Son of Krishnan: ₹3.40 crore
- Indra: ₹3.38 crore
- Orange: ₹3.36 crore
- Jalsa: ₹3.20 crore
- Okkadu: ₹2.54 crore
On the second day of its re-release, Sunday (March 6), the film continued strong, selling close to 10,000 tickets between 8 AM and 4 PM on BookMyShow, with a steady hourly average of 1,000 to 1,200 tickets sold.
Directed by Sukumar and starring Allu Arjun and Kajal Aggarwal, Arya 2 holds a 7.5 IMDb rating and is available for streaming on Sun NXT in Telugu. The story revolves around two childhood friends who take different paths in life but fall in love with the same woman, leading to emotional chaos and action-packed drama.
With this re-release, Arya 2 not only taps into nostalgia but also proves Allu Arjun’s enduring box office power across generations.
