In another devastating news to the Indian music industry, eminent singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK, died at an age of 53 in Kolkata. The iconic singer was performing live at a concert at Nazrul Manch in Kolkata where he reportedly collapsed after suffering a fatal heart attack.
As per early reports coming from sources in Kolkata, KK was immediately rushed to the hospital after he reportedly collapsed after his performance. However, he couldn’t survive the heart attack and was, reportedly, brought dead at Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) at around 10:30pm.
“Singer Anupam Roy called me up and said he is hearing something bad from the hospital. Then I contacted the hospital. They said he was brought dead. Then I rushed to the hospital,” informed Minister Arup Biswas.
With his first album in 1999, KK produced several melodies for Bollywood with many tracks that live forever in the heart of his fans. Popular hits like Tadap Tadap (Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, 1999), Dus Bahane (Dus, 2005), and Tune Maari Entriyaan (Gunday, 2014) made him a household name.
Mourning the death of the iconic singer, many B-town celebrities took to their social media handles and forwarded their condolences to his family and fans. Actor Akshay Kumar wrote, “Extremely sad and shocked to know of the sad demise of KK. What a loss! Om Shanti.” “Just can’t believe that our beloved #KK is no more. This really can’t be true. The voice of love has gone. This is heartbreaking,” shared singer Harshdeep Kaur.
