Renowned veteran actor Dalip Tahil has been handed a two-month jail sentence by a magistrate court in Mumbai, marking the culmination of a legal battle that emerged from a drunk driving incident in 2018. In this unfortunate incident, Tahil was involved in a collision when his vehicle rammed into an auto-rickshaw, resulting in injuries to a woman. The accident took place in Khar, a suburb of Mumbai, back in 2018.
According to a detailed report in the Times of India, the magistrate court’s verdict was substantially influenced by the evidence provided by a medical professional. This medical expert confirmed the presence of alcohol in Tahil’s system, further noting signs such as dilated pupils, an unsteady gait, and incoherent speech. These factors collectively pointed to the actor’s inebriated state at the time of the accident.
The 65-year-old actor boasts a remarkable filmography, including roles in movies such as Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Baazigar, Ishq, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, to name just a few. His most recent film endeavour was IB 71, in which he starred alongside Vidyut Jammwal. In this film, released earlier this year, he portrayed the character of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto with his trademark finesse.
Furthermore, Dalip Tahil extended his acting prowess into the realm of web series, having appeared in the series Mind The Malhotras, which was released last year. It remains to be seen how this legal decision will impact Dalip Tahil’s career and future prospects.
