Following the recent assassination of political figure Baba Siddiqui, security around Salman Khan and his family has been intensified as they face ongoing threats from notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Amid these tensions, the Bishnoi community has staged a protest, expressing anger by burning effigies of Salman Khan and his father, Salim Khan.
The protest took place in Jaipur on Saturday, where members of the Bishnoi community gathered in response to a recent statement by Salim Khan defending his son’s innocence in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case. In a statement reported by Hindustan Times, the community asserted, “We are Bishnois; we do not defame anyone without reason. When the case was filed 26 years ago, several dignitaries, including Bishnoi leaders, were involved. Salim Khan cannot mislead people with false statements. The entire community was hurt by his words, and we will do everything we can to seek justice in the Blackbuck case, even if it means taking to the streets.”
Salim Khan’s recent remarks about his son’s character, stating that Salman would never harm an animal, have reignited tensions with the Bishnoi community, for whom the blackbuck holds sacred status. Despite Salman’s acquittal in the case, the community insists on accountability, calling for an apology from the Khan family.
The Khan family’s security concerns have only escalated in recent months. After facing earlier threats reportedly from Lawrence Bishnoi, Salim and Salman reached out to the Mumbai police. This April, an incident at their Galaxy apartment involved gunfire from two shooters, further heightening security around them following the recent loss of Siddiqui.
