American actor and filmmaker, Ben Affleck, is all set to reunite with his friend and renowned actor, Matt Damon, for his next directorial based on the historic Nike deal that changed sports marketing forever. The Last Duel duo will be sharing the screen one more time and essay the life and struggles of Nike executive Sonny Vaccaro who landed the Michael Jordan deal for the sports brand.
According to Hollywood Reporter, Matt Damon will be portraying the character of Sonny Vaccaro in the upcoming sports drama and Ben, who is also directing the project, will essay the role of Nike co-founder Phil Knight. The script of the movie is reported to be revolving around the efforts of Vaccaro to crack a deal with rising basketball player Michael Jordan in the mid-80s. Following the historic deal between Nike and Jordan, the endorsement is considered one of the most significant in sports brand marketing.
As per the early reports, the movie will not be focused on the basketball superstar but remain true to the efforts of Sonny Vaccaro. However, the movie is expected to show him interacting with the inner circles of Michael Jordan and we might see a few glimpses of the Jordan as well as the making of the iconic endorsement. Meanwhile, the title of the movie and the rest of the cast and crew are currently being discussed or under curtains.
