With the phenomenal response at the box office for Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer horror comedy, Stree 2, the makers are high on taking forward the horror universe with the introduction of new characters. Vampires of Vijay Nagar was announced a while ago with Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna taking the lead in introducing vampires in Dinesh Vijan’s vision and the pre-production for the new chapter is almost complete.
As per the latest insider updates, Vampires of Vijay Nagar will begin its first leg of shoot in October and the lead actors will join the crew by the third week. Helmed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the horror drama will take place in two periods – the present day and the ancient Vijayanagara Empire. Both timelines will play a critical importance in unfolding the story of the new characters in the horror universe.
If reports are to be believed, Ayushmann Khurrana will sport an adventure-loving personality while Rashmika’s character will have layers. The look tests for the leading pair will begin early next month and we might get a glimpse of them soon. Meanwhile, a set reflecting a north Indian town will be erupted soon to film the modern-day setting of the plot.
The Maddock Supernatural Universe has already developed the character arcs for Stree featuring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, Roohi starring Janhvi Kapoor, Bhediya portrayed by Varun Dhawan, Munjya featuring Sharvari and Abhay Verma. Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s next will mark the sixth instalment of the franchise and will introduce vampires. Post Vampires of Vijay Nagar, Bedhiya 2 featuring Varun Dhawan are also in the works.
